At our 2025 AGM we lost two valuable members of our committee. We will sorely miss the steady hand of Martin, who was always ready to step up to the job of chairing our committee meetings with a firm hand and introducing our speakers at the monthly events. His clear voice and confident manner was a real asset to our group and we wish him every success in his move to the Wirral later in the year.

Another great loss to the committee is Jane, whose meticulous documentation skills and strong commitment made her an excellent branch Secretary, a role she fulfilled for 12 years. Jane gave a wonderful speech about how the Waltham Forest U3a group sprang into being following a Guardian newspaper article mentioning that Epping U3a was swamped, and it was time Waltham Forest had its own branch. Jane's late husband started Waltham Forest U3a in 1995. Jane went on to join in 2010 after she retired, and started her own group, Classics, which is still running. In recognition of her outstanding contribution she was presented with a bouquet, a voucher for Sadlers Wells and Lifelong Membership of Waltham Forest u3a. 

In other committee changes Richard, who resigned from the committee in December 2024, was replaced by Anne who is now our new secretary. Our two new arrivals are Sue who now takes the committee minutes and Carol who looks after web-site matters.

Please contact Anne using the contact page or at the next meeting if you would like to volunteer to be a member of the committee. This would help with future planning and might involve shadowing the current job-holder for a time to ensure smooth changeover when the time comes.
