Have your children suggested you commit your memories to print? Do you write rhymes to make birthday cards personal, or scribble stories to tell your grandchildren? Whatever your writing preference, find support and advice in our creative writing group.
Group Leader Cathy says: "we represent varying levels of writing experience. Before retirement, mine was limited to instruction leaflets for students and rhyming clues for treasure hunts. Since joining a u3a writing group in 2016, when I lived in the Fens, I’ve expanded my repertoire and learned from fellow members. More importantly, I’ve gained in confidence with the support of others."
As a developing group at Waltham Forest, they are open to ideas and suggestions from members. Cathy offers a monthly prompt for writers to interpret as they prefer – as a story, poem, essay, or memoir to share by email or at the next meeting. Meetings may include a short writing or planning exercise which can be shared with the group, or not – as the writer prefers. Members pay a small regular charge to cover the cost of room hire. Come along and see if this is for you.
