There are u3as in Europe, Australia and Canada. The first UK one started back in 1981 and there are now more than 1040 branches, with well over 400,000 members nationwide. Waltham Forest u3a began in 1995 so we are currently planning special celebrations for our 30th anniversary. We have around 340 members many of whom join us at our monthly events, or who attend one of the 37 groups run by members, some in their own homes and some at community venues. We also organise outings throughout the year to places of interest including nearby towns, gardens, theatres and of course London itself.
